O Like A Summer Day.....

Dragging heavy chains,
We sang old songs as sun baked
-slow death by chiggers.

Picnic blanket spread,
I read poetry to you
-breeze goes well with wine.

Hiking through woods,
We saw a deer in clearing
-looking back at us.

Sun shines on lush lawn,
Children run slow through sprinkler
-cold water soothing.

Small girl tugs Papa,
Bringing him to the park's swings
-her winged chariot.

  2. Breezes do indeed go well with wine!

The childhood images bring back good memories for me. Dad always called the sprinkler we used the "oscillating" sprinkler. That was my first big word.

  3. I don't know which I enjoyed more, Edward! Actually, I do! I love the wine and poetry on a picnic blanket!

Certainly not the chiggers... they are dreadful, torturous creatures!

  6. Thoughtful and romantic... I liked all of these. The girl tugging at her father's hand was beautiful.
