Thinkers And No Brainers

Alone in classroom,
Working problems afterschool
-achieved honor roll.

Senator has fling,
Throws away wife and children
-argentine soulmate.

Man sitting on rock,
gazes both out and inward,
-rodin's masterpiece.

Thinker works problem,
Then falls asleep at her desk
-behold light comes.

Poet thinking hard,
Struggles for magnum opus
-totally futile.

  1. Excellent as usual, though I like the middle one best.

  2. For some strange reason, I thought of "Alice in Wonderland" and the griffin on the rock! The dodo seemed to be floating around too! And did I see the White Rabbit rush by?
Clever mix of seriousness and wry humour!

  6. Thinking too hard might scare the thought away, you know?

  8. I would say you had five nails and each hit right on the head.

    Great reading.

  10. You made me think hard on this one. The last one spoke loudest to me.

  11. Edward, I would title your collection Headline News and the Rest.
Did you ever go to sleep at your computer? Mrs. Jim and I both have. Little Known Poet Sleeps at the Keyboard.
I liked your approach here, definitely a lot of thinking done.

  12. You never cease to amaze me with your raw and enlightened poetry. The last one had me rolling on the floor laughing --- thank you.

  14. Loved the last two. Most revelations come in a relaxed between the worlds state...or so I've heard. Unfortunately, I'm plodding with the herd in the last verse.
