What a beautiful capture of an equally beautiful subject. And a bit of synchronicity, too. I've just been trying (w/o success yet) to post a link on my blog to some photos of the North Pender Island Lantern Festival. It's not a memorial event like this, but very striking effects as well. Love your poem; words as gentle as the setting.
The haiku is serene and quiet tinged with a little sadness with the memories of the departed - but the letters of love gave this haiku the heart.
My feeling of the picture is ambivalent. There is a certain solemnity at one hand and a strange festive feel in the other. Like in the Haiku, the works on the papers stir great emotion.
